Sticky Note Scavenger Hunt

I used to play a game with my younger brother.  We played a scavenger hunt- type game.

We would use sticky notes and have them all over the house.

"For #1 go to the piano" then you would go to the piano and hunt for the next hint

"For #2 go to the place where you wash your hands" and then you'd have to figure the clue out and go find a sink.

I have done this with Walter.  It reinforces reading, and numbers, causes him to think a little bit, to problem solve, and it's fun to try and find the "clues"

I think the older we got, the harder the clues were.

With my five year old, I only go to ten, and then I'll have a piece of candy or something at the end of the hunt.

For preparation, It's easier if you start with #10 and go backwards.
For example, I used #10 for the piano and #9 for the counter.\

I place the candy or treasure item on the last spot (piano,) walk to another spot (which will be counter spot #9)  and write on the sticky "For #10 go to___________ (the piano, for example.)

So, then I write "for #9 go to the counter" on the sticky note (so I don't get lost) and find another spot for #8.

The trick is to keep track of where you are.  If you are writing  go to #9, you are at #8.

I think when we were younger, we even created a list so we would know where we were going and what hints to put where.
