Pictionary Charades

I wanted Walter to practice writing while I was cooking dinner --but I didn't have a plan.

I instructed him to take out a piece of paper and start writing and gave him three words to write.

Car, Hat, plate

I asked him to think of some words.

He asked why and I quickly added, "for a game."

Now, I did not have a game in mind, but I needed him to be interested in what he was doing.

I asked him to make sure there were at least two words for each member of our family.

So, 8 words later, dinner complete, I had to think fast.

So, I decided to do a pictionary and charades combo.  "Plate" is easier to draw than act out.

So, depending on what the word is, the player whose turn it was got to choose for themselves to act it or draw it.

And Carrie couldn't read at this point, so someone had to whisper it to her.

Now, this game is especially nice because young Walter had a list of words to choose from- so even if the drawing wasn't as perfect, we could use the list to guess.
