...Did you say HAWAII?
Scuba? Dolphins? Turtles? 3 Police Stations?
Biked down a volcano?
Power hanggliding?
Allergic reaction?
Yep, folks...you name it, we did it and experienced it.
Yes, Jeff and I took a 2 week trip to Hawaii in June. Jeff's cousin had a timeshare there and we used Jeff's reward points from his consulting/travel days to fly for free. Other than a few obstacles to over come (USAir, lost license, allergic reaction to Mango, we had a wonderful time)
Mindy took classes towards her scuba diving license. She did her open water class and tests in Hawaii and achieved her license.

Here she is having to take her mask off while under the water and put it back on
and this is the picture right after she completed her skills and achieved open water diver

While under the water, dolphins swam right by us-
They are native to Hawaii and they are called spinner dolphins because they are the only dolphins that spin on their axis

Here we are, now both licensed divers!

We met up with a bike company and they took up to the top of Mount Haleakala- the highest mountain in the world (much of it is under water)
After seeing the sunrise we took a bike ride down the volcano (yes- volcano!) It was a wonderful excursion.
We then went to the top of the volcano again to see the sunset. We also each (of the four of us) made our mark on the mountain at the summit at 10,023 feet because there were no bathrooms there.
We went on a deep sea fishing trip and we caught an Ono. Mindy got to reel it in. 60 pounds

On our way out to sea we noticed a fire and on our way back it broke out to be the biggest island fire they had in 50 years.
We took the road to Hana. Supposedly this road is dangerous- but it has nothing over the north road. Insurance companies make you sign something stating you won't take that road. Because the fire broke out and was so huge, it blocked the only other road to the airport. So, we took the north road.

Power hang gliding -we each took a 30 minute turn soaring over the mountains of Hawaii. Beautiful. Breathtaking.
