Last night was margarita night at the violin bar, and we participated. We took our drinks to a wide window where we had a view of the ship sailing. It was wonderful.
The morning wakeup to go ashore came early. But prevail we did. Off to breakfast and surprise, Mom had blue berry pan cakes and not Eggs Benedict. Fourth day and we arrived at Caleca, Mexico, at 9:30 A.M.
This time the ship had a dock facility and we didn’t have to use tenders(smaller passenger boats) to go ashore. This was much better and we disembarked at 10:00 and rode for an hour or so south past Tulum to a Mexican national park called Muyil where the Mayans had a village 1,000 years ago.
This was followed by a tour of a Mexican jungle. Saw a natural Zapote, chewing gum tree and the largest Ficus tree you have ever seen.
Water is magnificent blue. Our tour guide was Mayan and very proud of his heritage. He is Mayan first and Mexican second. He was very interesting and there were lots of interesting stories; hope we remember them.
It was fascinating.
Tonight we set sail at 6:30 and spend a last day at sea.
There is a Mexican buffet and party at 11:30. Pretty late for a couple of old farts, but I think we’ll go. We can sleep in tomorrow.
But speaking of eating, we’re getting ready for dinner after our shore activities and I’m sure we’ll be stuffed again. I feel like this is going back to infancy…eat, sleep, play and repeat the cycle.
We’ll write some more tomorrow after spending our final relaxing day at sea.
Love, Mom and Dad
