You take one look at these pictures and see that the ministry we do involves all of us.
Our kids are a huge part of this ministry, this nonjudgmental unconditional love from an innocent child goes a long way.
HERB.JPG)
We grieved the loss of our Nashville Rescue Mission friend January 1, 2008.
Herb was staying with us and was on a sales trip. In a moment of weakness, he overdosed and lost his life. That loss really rocked our household.
I think one of the things Walter took from that experience was that anyone could die, not just "old" people. (We had just experienced Jeff's grandmother dying- and we spent a good amount of time over there holding her hand, telling her we loved her, as we watched her body slowly wind down- this was a few months prior to Herb's death)
We told Walter Herb was sick and died, and that is as much truth was we wanted to share with a five year old.
And God moved us forward, helped us to press on.
MONTI.JPG)
And God continues to wow us.
If you read our letter last year, you read about our other Rescue Mission friend and brother, Monti.
Monti has returned to school at Belmont University to complete his degree in Music Business and he continues to seek God's heart.
God is using Monti to win hearts for Him in some pretty big ways- it's been awesome to watch his story unfold. He is singing at the Bluebird Cafe April 16 and has an amazing girlfriend. God has truly blessed him in some mighty big ways.
GARRY.jpg)
Garry is our newest family addition. He stayed with us in our basement from September to the first weekend in March. He is actively involved in his church and has just moved into his own apartment near his recent job. We have seen God's hand in the past 2 months and certainly the last couple weeks.
Garry moved into his apartment, his first "own place" in 3 years. We sent an email out Thursday, March 5 and hours later, we received enough responses and Garry had everything he needed to get started on his apartment.
Last week, Garry was let go due to layoffs. We are praying that the Lord guides his footsteps to the next chapter. As much as we have helped him get started, we feel that it is our place now to allow him the opportunity to spread his wings and learn to fly, so to speak. And so we wait and we pray.
